Finally got an answer 3 days later. The footage was digitized a 8 bit non compressed standard def 29.97. I’ve sent it to several other editors and some thing it’s dropping a frame or 2

This is the first time I’ve noticed such a huge problem. I’ve shot lot’s of jib and dolly moves and 24p and never seen this. Could it be monitoring alone? I’ve sent it to a couple of other editors and they don’t see what the client sees or i see. Is it a screen resolution issue as well. I’d like to attach the file, but I don’t thing I can on this forum.

How do you remove the pull down? Isn’t 24p actually 29.97 in the HDX 900?

we shot 24p 1080i. my editor digitized it on his 6.0 as a QT converted from pro res to standard. The client has his own final cut at 5.1. He’s seeing some stutter and i am as well in his QT, but several people I’ve sent the QT file to haven’t seen the problem. I am at a loss to figure out the issues. It could be a lot of things from monitor resolution to 24p, 23.98 etc. His QT was sent out at 24 frames not 29.97 at 720 x 480. Lot’s of issues

The 900 does indeed shoot at 23.98 but does a pull down to 29.97 in 1080i. So it’s a compressed HD 1080i. Our main issue in all of this is that the FCP system being used cannot handle the files. They are QT converted from pro res to standard.

Again, I’m totally out of my element in this world. I light and shoot.
I’ve taken it upon myself to try to correct the problem for the client.
Is it fair to say that if I re digitize at DVC Pro HD 24P 1080i, the problem will go away?

I truly appreciate your help with this!

    Hi Keith:

I guess the thought process was that because the client has an older version of FCP (5.1) that he couldn’t take in the HD. Standard and pro res were used. Again, I’m not knowledgeable in this area so I threw it out to see.
