Hi Dave, if I create a new sequence and simply drag one of your 1080 DVCPro HD clips into the sequence. It sure want to change the sequence to match the clip.
Then I get this settings:
https://www.joelarvidsson.com/autosettings.jpgI think it’s odd it choose the 10bit, before it always choosed 8bit YUV. Usually I choose 10bit when working with prores hq or change it right before final output.

Hi Im looking for a signal splitter and the one Bob suggested could indeed be interesting. But this thread is from 2006 so it must have come some new splitters. Anybody here using one relative cheap splitter with good results?

It was really nice to read something good about lion. The only other features you can read of apple site is with gestures and other (to me) pointless features. I hope that AJA rewrite there drivers soon. Not taking any chance to try lion on any workstations in some weeks thou.

If your not interested in capture then which is the cheapest BM card to use with resolve? Does it have the same performance except it does not do any capture?
Just interested to use it as pure I/O card. Already have an capture card. -

Hi I have a question if aja can work in conjunction with the Adobes mercury engine (with a nvidia card with cuda). Seams like aja can’t take advantage of the mercury engine or have that changed with the new drivers that was released June 28, 201. The ones that updates to AJA Kona family and Io Express to support CS5.5

Hi Joel,
The latest driver release is compatible with Mercury. The only exception is with RGB (4:4:4) uncompressed sequences.

I learned an important thing from Richard Harrington’s book yesterday. “None of the third party hardware cards (ie aja, Blackmagic) benefit from the CUDA component of the Mercury Playback Engine” He mentions some editors rough cut with with regular graphics card then switch to the hardware card to render and output. When I work with clients they need to see the display on the engineering monitor, so I dont think switching would work for me. On the other hand, I don’t have a CUDA graphics card (ATI) and since I use my Kona 3 for monitoring, I feel no need to upgrade to a CUDA card 😉
