Im not sure i follow. Do you mean all four things works in conjunction?
Does this mean that If I install a quadro fx card in the machine I will get a big speed boost. As I understand the mercury plays with no one else but it self. So you get a big speedboost from the cuda cores on youre nvida card but your Aja card can´t take advantage of this.

Of course faster cpu and more ram in the system Is a big factor.

By the way I enjoyed your “Transitioning videos”.

I looked at black magics support page and DeckLink HD Extreme 3D+ is the only supported card i can find! Is it only working with this card!?!

I got it to work. Seams like I did some wrong in the settings of prores. Now i started with graphic rendered in prores hq and let fcp detect the settings. Will be interesting to se which setting that was messed up. Thanks

    +1 about the LHE support!!

Can I install Final cut X without messing up the existing final cut pro? I mean the Final cut X is another application and not a upgrade, can I have both installed (final cut pro and final cut X with separate aja plugins). I like to keep my older aja driver and install the new beta. Hope this is possible since everything is working as it is now.

I read the Aja document and they recomend to install the new final cut X on another bootdrive. Does this mean you can only use one aja plugin?

The aja should be consider as preview quality it says. Does this mean you get less quality picture from AJA in fcp X compared to Finalcut pro 7?

Ok i dont want the hole projekt timeline to be “infected” by the settings of the footage. So maby that kills the thought of editing natively. Would like to skip alot of transcoding thoe.

Ok, so colorcorrections is better if I convert it on ingest than if I edit it in the native format and than output to proress? I would of course not export it to other applications as h264.

Micah, the Canon EOS log and transfer plugin sounds interesting.
Coming from Final cut Im used to transcode everything on ingest. Also I really like to se everything on both computer display and monitor at the same time.

    Richard Harrington
“Why do you need to EDIT via a monitor. Color correct, sure. But what is your external monitor doing for you that the computer display can’t when it comes to true editing?”

“Copy clips into a sequence with AJA settings.
Rendering just the timeline is far faster than transcoding everything yu shot.”

Sooner or later you want to use the external monitor for color corection and gradeing. Just nice to get everything up and running from the beginning of editing…But yea alot of time and space is wasted on transcoding everything!

“You can also monitor JUST fine going out HDMI (which can easily be converted to HDSDI for $300).”
    Richard Harrington

Do you mean using another card than nvidia with hdmi output? or using the dvi port on the nvidia card and convert that to hdmi?

    Richard Harrington
“The realtime handling of HD is done by Mercury Engine. This outputs via your NVIDIA graphics card
To output over other video hardware you need to render.”

If this is correct I guess the only option is to use the dvi and convert it to hdmi or just use plane dvi.

Thanks Richard for all info! I will think about the workflow.

Ok, to make it more clear. You can’t bring in dslr footage to premiere and edit it while watching your reference monitor (aja outputting to reference monitor). Is this correct?
