The bit about changing the Frame Default setting under Output Module Templates was a good suggestion. I was able to figure out which file format and alpha method to use (I actually think I’m going to go with a PNG/Premult. It has the lowest file size of any of the methods I’ve tried!)

If nothing else this method you’ve suggested will allow me to use the keyboard shortcut for Save Frame As File instead of mouse clicking to get to Save Frame As Photoshop Layers. PLUS it saves me the trouble of telling Premiere Pro how to handle the Photoshop file whence I import it.

I do about a hundred of these things a week, so even that little bit is a nice time/energy saver. 🙂 Thanks a lot!

I just tried Emerge effect myself and it didn’t do too much for me either. Which is a shame because it’s a really cool looking effect in the preview.

I did mess with the text animation settings and when I changed the Fill & Stroke method to “All Strokes Over Fills,” I got an effect that looks somewhat like the preview. (This will only work if you have a stroke on the text to begin with.)

If you’re working in After Effects 6.5 or 7 it could be as simple as making sure the playhead is at the In point of the layer before applying the animation preset. The keyframes for presets are applied starting at the playhead’s current position.

If you just want to see what the presets look like, go to ANIMATION > Browse Presets and it’ll open a window that shows all the presets for text and background animation and etc. You can apply presets to the selected layer directly from Bridge by double clicking on the one you want.

Hope that helps and that I’m not completely misunderstanding your problem. 🙂

Sounds like you just need to resize the footage. For example, shooting with DVCPro 25 in widescreen format, we have to resize the image to 75% in order to get it to look like that first picture. The rest of the video is still there, just hanging off the edges. That’s what works for us. You can copy and paste the “Motion” properties from one clip to others to save time when scaling everything to 75%. Let me know if this helps, or if it’s a totally different problem.
