That’s the idea. Name your chapters (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.), and when you run the command from a menu with chapter buttons, it will auto-create them.
If you wanted to have special buttons in one or more menus, you would add them manually after auto-creating the chapter menus.

There is no way to make links in Photoshop for Encore menus – you must link buttons in Encore.
That said, in Encore 2.0 and later there is a Chapter Menu feature that automates this process.
Keep in mind the DVD-Video format limits 4×3 menus to 36 buttons per menu, and 16×9 menus to 18 buttons per menu. There is also a chapter limit of 99 per timeline. Which all means you will have more than one menu and more than one timeline.
But Chapter Menus in Encore 2.0 and later automate nearly the entire process.

Why do it in Photoshop at all? Do it in Encore…far quicker.

You’ve gotten farther with this than I did.
Encore doesn’t support burning a Blu-ray project to DVD, so any attempts to do so require trailblazing of exporting a BD folder or image and then burning it with other applications.

Encore crops – I believe – the top 3 and bottom 3 lines.
NTSC SD video on DVD must be 480 pixels high. If you want more control over this, then export or otherwise crop your video to 720×480 before bringing it into Encore.

If your goal is to automatically return to the last button selected, then don’t set your default button to ‘None’.
Instead, leave the default at 1 (or whatever button you want selected when you first enter the menu), and then set the timeline Remote Menu property to ‘Return to Last Menu’ – this will return to the menu with the last button selected highlighted.

Adobe doesn’t publicly comment on potential new features for their products.
Your best bet to communicate your desired new features is to file a feature request on their website.

You could use multiple timelines in a single playlist.
Understand there will be a brief pause (depending on player, around 1 second) when going from one timeline in a playlist to another, so if there are any chapters that don’t have to run without pauses, that’s the place to split into two timelines.

It’s not possible to have a menu in the DVD-Video format with no buttons selected. If ‘None’ is chosen, then the first button will be selected.
If you don’t want selection shown, create an invisible button and make it the default button.
