That’s definitely true of CS3 and CS4. But as I recall (and memory could be failing me on this), Encore 2.0 only required AE 7 Pro for dynamic link.

With Encore 2.0, you must be using AE 7 Pro to get dynamic link to work.

Are you viewing this in Encore Preview, or on a burned DVD?

Select a PSD file on your system, right-click on it, and then choose Open With > Choose Program: select Photoshop from the list, then check “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”, then click OK to close the dialog.

Widescreen DVDs are not always 16:9 – sometimes they are 4:3 Letterboxed.
Encore is perfectly capable of creating a true 16:9 DVD. Just make sure your assets are 16:9 and your project is SD. Everything will be fine.

No. 16:9 SD video will completely fill the screen of a high definition TV.
However, if there are controls on the TV to zoom or stretch the signal and the viewer has incorrectly chosen these settings, there is nothing that you can do as a DVD author to make it look correct on an incorrect setting.

The simplest and most trouble-free workflow is to work entirely standard definition from AE right to Encore.

If you want, yes you can have video transitions to the next menu.
Auto-activate means to press when the button is selected.

The only way to do this is to use two menus – in DVD-Video (the rules of which govern nearly all Encore behavior), buttons cannot overlap and can only use subpicture highlights.
Make two menus that look as you want, and set the buttons to auto-activate and link to the next menu, except for the buttons that actually link to the content (on the second menu for each button).
