Try Save As a .png file. They are smaller and include transparency.

Export a QuickTime movie from FCP. Then drop that .mov into Compressor and choose the appropriate DVD preset for your project to make the needed MPEG2 and audio files for the DVD. Then you need use those files in authoring the DVD in DVD StudioPro. There is no FCP to DVD direct export.

If you still have some noise left after the less aggressive approach to noise removal, try applying the Noise Gate in the Dynamics Effect. This will cut out any remaining noise in between when the person is not speaking. It helps with the perception of less noise.

We work on the MAC platform. Our output workflow is; we render the preview files in ProRes 422, check all the renders on the timeline, then export a ProRes 422 file that matches the sequence settings. We export from Premiere (not to Media Encoder) using the Preview Files. This seems to give all the plugins a chance to work within the Premiere environment with very few surprises. It also gives us a solid ProRes Quicktime file to then convert to any file format we need.

For the original problem of MB Looks not being backwards compatible with the pre-upgrade renders, we just opened each timeline and re-rendered everything. It shouldn’t have happened with a plug-in upgrade, but it is done and we are moving ahead.

It sounds like it was recorded with Dolby noise reduction, then played back with the Dolby turned off. Some old formats had that option on the camera or on the deck. The best hope now would be to use a program like Izotope RX3 to take out the unwanted noise. It has a bit of a learning curve, but there are plenty of tutorials online to help.

Try the Secondary Color Corrector, target the green and change the hue and reduce the saturation.

Do the VO first. Get your main edit completed with the VO, then add in music. You can always edit in or out pauses in the voice to go with the flow of the music.

I’ve had good success lately with Smart Sound music. Many of their tracks can be downloaded in a variety of lighter mixes which you can customize to go under a VO then bring in the full version for emphasis.

Careful pre-production planning. Same lens, same focal length, lots of post-production manipulation. It would be fu to try for a project.
