  • Header error importing TIFF to premiere CS6

    Hi all,

I’m trying to import a number of TIFF images with transparency/Alpha into premiere CS6. The import keeps failing with a ‘header error’.

The files are RGB and 8bit.

    HELP

Try Save As a .png file. They are smaller and include transparency.

    SALUTE!

Thanks. Size is not an issue though.
I’ve had a workflow previously working with TIFFs with alpha layer set ontop of footage in Premeier OR I’ve been rendering them out as looping sequences in After effects (as Animation quicktime .mov) which then layer over my footage in Premiere. Either will work but for some reason I cant get my latest TIFF files with alpha to do either. When I import them into AE they seem to be working. Transparency and image is there but when I render out the .mov, it’s completely blank.
I get the header error if I try and import the TiFF’s directly into premiere.

I have used this approach on this project already and it’s working for other TIFF sequences. I cannot work out why this one doesn’t work.

Sorry, I’m a bit of a nube here.

    Hi,

This is a very late response but maybe it will help if you never found a resolution to this issue. I had the same problem importing a tiff file into Premiere CS5.5. When I brought the tiff into Photoshop, flattened the image, and save it as a png the image was able to be imported into Premiere but no longer had a transparent background. I did figure out though that once it is saved as a png you can open it in photoshop and just remove the background again and save it as a png without having to flatten the image. After saving it again the png file imported fine with a transparent background.

    A year later but hey!
