I’m going to try Compressor. I quit using it when I switched from Motion 4 and 5 to AE. That time I started using Adobe Media Encoder. Won’t m4v turn into gigantic files? I don’t need movies only for playback at high quality.

November 20, 2012 at 3:31 pm in reply to: Best way to split animations for programmers

The question is that, sometimes the main comp has, for example, a character moving on the screen. However, generally I need the character making the movement but standing in place. I know I can just deactivate the “position” animation and it should stop and maintain, for example the puppet animation.
I did the question having hope that there was a more automated way of doing this. Either way, thank you.

July 8, 2012 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Re-orient layer axis

The problem is that I’m trying to bounce particles in a logo and I need it’s Z axis to be pointing up or else they will not bounce. Another thing that is killing me is that the particular effects work in Z. To acomplish what I need all the particles should work in the same plane, like a 2D space.

I don’t know how to thank you for the help you’re giving me.

Now if I raise the cannon that shoots the particles, the bounce goes crazy again.
I’ve checked the solid you made with the ramp. Shouldn’t I just need to raise the gray area and proportionally raise the cannon and the effect would be the same?

    Thank you again.

Is there any way to control the bounce amount?

Thank you for the help and for the sample project.

No. I can find the option to change the curves to Bezier and to add eases. The problem is that despite the values of both points are totally different, when we take a look at the points animation in the keyframe editor, it is just represented as a straight line.

    Thank you.

I think he means a depth map exported, for example, from Maya and used in Motion to simulate depth of field. They can also be used in Photoshop, together with render passes.

Here is my project. I can’t find out where I’m going wrong. I’ve already tried to export ONLY the alpha channel from Motion and when I open a frame of that in Photoshop I think that the alpha channel is not that accurate to the result that I see in Motion.

    Thank you.
