September 13, 2011 at 4:57 am in reply to: Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 (5.5.1) update: bug fixes, Mac OSX v10.7 (Lion) compatibilityThanks for the lengthy response, but I’m curious to know why it became worse with an upgrade?
What changed between 5.0 and 5.5? This didn’t used to be a problem. The Nikon files play fine in 5.0.
Can we expect this to be fixed before 6.0?
Thanks, I know how complicated this stuff is. I was the Avid dealer in Hawaii for six years.

Why did it work in 5.0 and not 5.5? What changed. The Nikon files didn’t. Thanks for your responses and participation, Todd.

September 13, 2011 at 4:04 am in reply to: Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 (5.5.1) update: bug fixes, Mac OSX v10.7 (Lion) compatibilityTHE NIKON PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED!!! it is actually worse than it was before. Renaming the files to MPG is NOT a solution. It needlessly complicates the workflow for hundreds if not thousands of potential users. DSLR compatibility was the major reason for many of us to switch to Premiere. We were told it was being addressed. IT HAS NOT BEEN.
Why do Nikon files work with Premiere Pro 5.0.x and not with 5.5?
I just received a response on the Adobe Forum from Todd Kopriva that they are still working on this problem. I truly hope they are successful, or this will be my last upgrade. I REALLY like this program and workflow. I want to believe in it.

These drivers work fine with 10.6.7 and my setup with the GTX 285 CUDA: cudadriver_3.2.17_macos and Display driver: Retail_256.01.00f03v7 Just thought I would finish this one off.

Saw the framerate and sizes you are sending to your monitor. Could you be sending PsF? HDMI doesn’t support 23.98 PsF or any PsF that I am aware of. That had me stuck for quite a while on my LaCie 324. Listed as a number such as 1080sf in the control panel. It stands for Progressive Segmented Frame. It is progressive, but is recorded as two separate fields that are put together as a single progressive frame. HDMI standard doesn’t use it. It must be P.

The various flavors of ProRes are great codecs. Anything to promote them would be welcome. Don’t know if the hang up here is with Apple or Adobe, but it should be addressed as soon as possible. AJA uses it as a major component in their workflow, both for recording and editing. So do many other vendors. I’m a Mac user, so it isn’t an immediate concern to me, but with the large base of Windows users on Premiere already, and with the influx of FCP users like myself, ProRes support must become a high priority.

September 9, 2011 at 4:53 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro CS 5.5 and Aja Kona 3. Video on desktop not as smooth as external monitor. Please Advise.Other than material from my Nikon D7000 (which Adobe is aware of and I hope is fixed SOON) I am getting normal smooth playback with my AJA Kona LHi and the current AJA Adobe software and LHi Driver in all windows with the usual codecs I work with, XDCam, ProRes, etc. That is why I asked what codec you are using. If it is Nikon H264, you will be having problems. All of my windows are smooth including the external HDMI out to my color critical monitor. Maybe this is a Kona 3 problem. What is the experience of others?
