October 21, 2010 at 1:27 pm in reply to: Is Skyline (New Trailer) Using VCP Optical Flare?Yeah, I just think its pretty amazing how everyday people are making these plug-ins and new effects through After Effects which has just become noticed as a pro standard. I love the After Effects community, everyone wants to learn, everyone wants to teach, everyone wants to share.

I didn’t know that people were using Motion for visual effects. I always assumed folks were using it strictly for motion graphics…
Do you know where I can see examples of VFX made with Motion?
If you scroll down to leverage you will see some in depth VFX

Yeah I agree, Motion seems to be what i need for my daily work but it just sucks not having the community After Effects has (including the plug-ins)
PS: Very nice Intro!

October 20, 2010 at 2:20 pm in reply to: Why is Apple Motion faster than After Effects? Thanks again guys. When I get off work ill be messing around with those setting to see if I can make it easier/faster to preview my work without having to ram preview every second. The reason this is important to me is because i do video commercials and i create my videos to a voice overs script and it would be hell to try and do that the way i have after effects set up now.
Edit: this is another reason why After Effects is far superior than Apple Motion, I wrote the same question in the Apple Motion forums and got 0 responses. The Apple Motion community is null.

October 20, 2010 at 12:50 pm in reply to: Why is Apple Motion faster than After Effects?Hey guys,
Thanks for the fast replies. So aside from the fact that I need more ram there is nothing i can do to make After Effects fast while doing 2D motion graphic commercials? It seems weird to me that After Effects is the standard but you can barley tell what you’re doing when trying to sink words and pictures to music (while trying to do cool transitions and visually stunning eye grabbers)
I guess ill just stick with Motion for my work and continue with After Effects for movie compositing and the like. Just wish Motion would have better plug-ins, better community and would stop doing “its own thing” somethings…. I hate how it just chooses to move places and ways on its own as a “standard”.

September 21, 2010 at 12:52 pm in reply to: How to Explode, Fragment Text in Motion?I agree, there should be 3D text in these so called “powerful programs” but just a thought, you could always layer the blast out effect. (Add several sizes to blast out as your main does, also you can get a compositing effect like ice shattering and layer that with it as well to make it look like its shattering even more. there is also glass composites as well) You might have to play around with it but the end result should be pretty awesome.

September 17, 2010 at 4:08 pm in reply to: How to Explode, Fragment Text in Motion?Hey,
You do not need to get any third part plug-in if you are just trying to blast/shatter text.
If the text is made in Motion (not made as an image file then imported) all you have to do is select your text file, go to behaviors —> text energetic —> Blast out.
It comes out really good automatically but if its not perfect you can do tons and tons of customization to the effect. I hope this helps.

September 17, 2010 at 3:42 pm in reply to: Double Alpha Overlays and Tranisions In Apple MotionHey guys, thanks for the help so far. I’ll link another video on the progress I made. I can now get 1 part to transition but still can not get the black to transition to the 2 half.
