Thanks Mike, will read up on Opentype.

Oh, with regards to Swiss 924 – you didn’t give me a font to try..but I’d REALLY appreciate if you could and don’t mind?

I’ll email you off the board…

To be honest Mike, I just kind of collected a few OTF fonts either sent by clients over the years, or we had them floating around. I’ve never really understood (never really researched to be fair!) what the difference is between .ttf and .otf and why there are both types?

The Suitcase bug is if you’ve got an opentype font that has a .ttf extension (why they would be like that is beyond me!) then it won’t stay active after a restart, you have to go in and change the extension to otf and then re-import each font back into suitcase again and sort back into groups which is a major pain. It doesn’t recognise them as being the same files. My own fault I guess for not knowing, but seems alot of ppl have had this problem.

Mike, I’ve never sorted out that Swiss924 problem!..you know, where I was getting random character width discrepencies in PSCS2, but not in anything else!? Any chance you could let me know where you bought your copy of 924, so I know for a fact it will work when I buy it?

    Cheers,
    Jim.

Why would you have a 6.5 project? Can you not edit it in 7.0?

I have my project/effects panel, viewport (comp window) and timeline dock in my left monitor and everything else in one big floating panel to fill the right monitor. I’ve never had any problem with redraw or UI lag and I’ve got a pretty rubbish machine!

Aye, shame it doesn’t support Photoshop or After Effects though. Boo! Do you know if they sorted out Opentype glitches aswell Mike? I never got a straight answer on their forum.

Have you got all your prefs set up ok, 25fps (or whatever you’re working at) set on you time controls and plenty of RAM allocated? Though you should be able to get realtime on a simple comp on even the slowest of PCs!…Let alone a juicy Boxx!

Tell me, how do the boxx machines weigh up pound for pound against a top end HP machine? I’m trying to work out what to ask for when we upgrade and the boxx’s look nice, but are quite a bit more expensive for similar specs than a standard HP system. Is there extra horsepower/reliability/throughput on the boxx systems? Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me Andrew…Turns out I was just being incredibly thick and still had my project settings set to PAL 25fps! Sorry, I feel a bit silly now.

Keep rolling with your tutorials..it’s a constant prizefight between you and Aharon for best tutes on the web! I’ve learnt 200% more AE skills in the last few months from the cow in one way or another. ace.

On a side – do you do any PAL versions of your videocopilot DVDs yet? Been meaning to get on of the bundles.
