I think the easiest way is going to be moving the files over a network. I’ve backed up the PC onto an NTFS drive aswell just in case. Will see if my mac reads it later and report back!

The other potential problem I’m facing, is getting my Adobe apps to read all the Blackmagic AVI’s. Anyobne here used Perian for such things?

David – I know…the only reason I use AVI is because it is the only format Premiere will let me capture in with the Decklink! I’d use QT if I could!

Yes, well, in an ideal world I would..but I don’t have £850 to hand at the mo for FCS2, plus I was going to just use Adobe Production Premium, as I do very little editing…but should really have checked about Premiere CS3..whoops!

Might have another look at iMovie…uggh.

Yeah, that’s what I meant Ed..but now i’m not sure my maths of probability are right either!?

I am kind of using this drive as my sole storage for the moment, so I guess a RAID-1 might be a good idea. Planning on getting a big CalDigit or similar fairly soon, but I need to do some work off my laptop for now and need a temp solution. I will look at these RAID-1 solutions.

My only big problem now remains that I can’t get any versions of Premiere Pro to work with a Power PC mac running Leopard! And Final Cut don’t do a trial version!! I needed to offline on Premiere ideally, but now I’ll settle for any cheap/free trial NLE I can run that will spit out an EDL!

Any ideas guys?

DAMN…seems Premiere 6.0 only works in classic mode on OSX..which of course Leopard doesn’t support anymore! Seems I AM screwed….unless someone knows a workaround?

Hi guys,

Thanks for the responses. The G-RAID mini’s look great, but a bit too pricey for me and RAID-0 isn’t that safe. I think I’ll focus a little less on performance and more on portability/ease of use.

To be honest this is only a temporary solution and the most I’ll be editing is a bit of DV and mostly After Effects. It’s not an Intel, so I can’t use Premiere CS3 and don’t own FCP yet, so it’ll be a bit of Premiere 6.5 until I get my MacPro set up.

A FW800 5400 drive should be ok for DV shouldn’t it?
