Okay I followed your instructions and it worked – I think – – the footage runs longer and syncs up.
But now my mind is sort of blown- – here’s why:
There must be some sort of trade off using this technique as opposed to using the much longer technique of re setting the frame rate in after effects (in fact, even when I reset the fram rate in after effects, it still would not sync up). This method (hitting modify and reinterpret at 23.976) is sooooo much easier, but am I losing something in the trade off. As far as I can tell the footage looks good – but I am looking at it on a small monitor. If this is all that is required, then why would anyone recommend the long process of resetting the footage in after effects.
