[Craig Seeman] “Apple CEO Tim Cook also confirmed the 2013 release of the Mac Pro in an email to a customer. Here’s a copy of the email, which Apple told me was indeed sent by Cook to a customer identified only as “Franz.”

What is this, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy ?

[Craig Seeman] “You can’t seriously think Apple would do this as a press release. That would truly be business stupid.

Well you were so definitive about it I assumed you must have read it somewhere.

[Craig Seeman] “They have. Tim Cook. New Mac Pro (replacements?) next later next year.
They showed you the non update of the MacPro.”

Wow, epic communication – no wonder the professional community is so at peace with their relationship.

[Craig Seeman] “At least Tim Cook caught this quickly and responded between Pogue/NY Times and Forbes. He didn’t let speculation linger. He responded.”

He responded to the third party misinformation with a vague sense of something some time within the next 18 months or so. We’re talking businesses here, that have been crying for information regarding their platform for a very long time and you think this is the answer they need?

[Craig Seeman] “They have something in the works that they believe will sell better and apparently targets who they believe is the MacPro or desktop user. In this case he’s been blunt head on about a change coming later next year.

Really, I didn’t see this press release from Apple.

[Craig Seeman] “It think radical change is afoot and they don’t want to encourage people to buy interim models.

    Then say so.

This isn’t idle speculation in the schoolyard about the new iPod.

They created a universe in which countless businesses operate.

There are many ways to communicate in that universe without damaging your cloak of invisibility.

Besides, why should their vow of secrecy apply to a lowly market share that apparently doesn’t pay for the window washing in Cupertino – just communicate with the non i users about your/their future together if you see one.

Or continue with the let-them-eat-cake attitude that’s serving you so well now.

[Chris Harlan] “And when that didn’t work so well, Apple got on the phone to one of its secretaries and told them to call us and promise to meet for lunch some day. Of course, the next couple of weeks are not good for Apple, so put your calendar away. But they WILL call us. Promise. And, really, we WILL do lunch.

I really like this – not the behavior, the, gulp, analogy.

Arrogance blows whether it’s a one-off or a big shiny corporation with a vision and a campus and stuff.

There’s secrecy and there’s negligence of, you know, those annoying little creative people that made you profitable enough to survive all those years to enjoy your iSuccess.

If Apple were an individual, what a wretched, ungrateful, thoughtless prick they turned out to be.

And to be clear, right now my company doesn’t need to ramp up with all new towers (although we’ve poured six figures into then in the past), but I don’t like to see so many of my friends who’s livelihoods are dependent on them treated like rabble.

Apple is getting a whole Marie Antoinette groove on.

    Look out for iKarma

Let me know if you’d like a project file of the template John.
It’s the one simple way I’ve come up with to lock things in place as you’re looking to do.

  • Whether for Logic or FCPX it’s reassuring to see Apple focused on growing and enhancing their pro apps.
While others have their doubts, I don’t doubt that Apple sees their pro apps as not only pro but the future of pro.
They’ve got the money, the vision and they’re vested.
    Again, it’s reassuring.

[Tim Wilson] “if there’s anything that Apple customers are NOT is douchebags.”

    Whew, that’s a relief.

May 23, 2012 at 1:51 am in reply to: After a year has perception of FCPX changed?

[David Powell] “A huge question also, why would anyone invest in a post infrastructure that ties them to Apple computers with no clue on whether or not powerful macs will exist in the near future?”

I would say because it defies reason that Apple would develop this whole new FCPX paradigm and not sell hardware that runs it optimally. The hardware may look and interface differently than past Mac heavy iron, but they will definitely bring new, faster Macs to market featuring Thunderbolt.

This may not match ideally with many existing visions/facilities, but it’s not a dead end. It is a new and different path.

    Apple.

[Chris Harlan] “I second all you say here, Walter. “

    I third it.
We moved from Media 100 to FCP for the app and the ability to use it hardware independent.
No successful shop makes decisions like this based on the cost of the systems if the performance isn’t there.
