The AE comps were rendered to QT mov files, no problem there. I chose the box, “Collect Files and Move to a New Location.” The total project size is 6.6 GB. When the Project Manager Progress goes through the “copying media,” it always ends up with the error message ” Premiere encountered an error and to try again.

But wait. For some reason, when I tried it again for the 4th time, the files were copied. I didn’t do anything different. All I know it seemed to work. Two days of trying must of paid off!

Thanks for taking the time, Tim

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for the quick reply. Information is crucial so here goes.

The client handed off video, pictures and audio and I have three different video formats. The completed movie is 51 minutes, with one sequence, that includes two AE comps that match sequence settings.

Sequence settings: (as recommended by a veteran video editor) HDV 720P. I have some HD footage at 1920×1080 and this particular setting was recommended.

    3 videos
    1920×1080
    720×480
    568×320(yep, I know…yuck!)

    Audio
    wav. 48000 Hz, 32 bit

    Pictures
    PSD 3264×2448
    jpg 378×553

2 AE comps matching sequence settings.

I chose to work in the 720P sequence setting in PP in order not to lose the native quality(yeah, that 320 isn’t great, but the client wanted it). I wanted to collect the files, the work, and everything associated with the project and transfer to the bigger machine to do the finishing(color grading, etc). Then send it to Media Encoder to make a 720×480 file for an NTSC Standard Def DVD. i didn’t want to compress in PP by sending that to a new sequence at 720×480, then sending that to Media Encoder, then Encore. Seemed like I might be adding more compression than I need and losing some quality. I did something like that in a similar project which took took long to collect the files, since I couldn’t get Project Manager to work. This current project has 149 items and would love PM to do the job for me.

    Thanks,
    Jim
