    Thank you.

I was just wondering if the pre amp(in Mackie or MBox) was noisier than the other.
And if Pro Tool’s quality for straight audio capturing was better than Sony’s Vegas

Yes, I was glad to find it and read it.
It was actually encouraging that you compared it in some respect against the Neumann as far as signal noise.

I was just on over load with all the information I was trying to digest.

Anyway thanks and I hope you had an enjoyable Easter.

<1. Can the Mackie Mixer 1202 vlz Pro run the T4060 (be the amp)?>
<2. If not is there a way to check the mic?

    answers:
1.The Mackie 1202 VLZ PRO has phantom power if that is what you mean,(I can try it when I get the mic Tuesday) but I was confussed if it is the way to go. Meaning if there would be better quality if I used a tube pre-amp to boost the signal and would it conflict with the tube that it is in base of the mic?
2.I don’t know how to check the mic besides just hooking it up, it will arrive Tuesday I can try then. It has a power supply but I don’t know if that is a pre-amp???

    Thanks Jim
P.S. I gave as much info because I heard read that features of a compressor-limiter would help with rooms that were not quite. I might be hurting myself with my homework but I am trying get educated and do what I can to understand this forums posting as everyone here is more knowledgeable that me. But I love this stuff and place.

Well, I guess it took a while to digest the cost of getting the power supply to the AT4060 but I did. I sent the mic to Audio Technica to check it and it is in spec. Cheryl there gave me a wholesale price on the power supply and mic cord ($500.00)- it arrives this Tuesday. I am now totally committed and would like to get a pre amp for the mic. Do you or Ty have any suggestions for a pre amp that matches the quality of the mic, should it be a tube preamp, and maybe suggest a cheap but good alternative if we are talking real expensive – I am in un-chartered waters and don’t know what I am talking about but I sure am hooked.

I have a sound deadened room power cords routed up to the ceiling away from the signal cords. Signal cords routed along the floor. They only cross one un-avoidable place at an 90 degree angle, A AT4060 mic, Mackie 1202 mixer, and Delta 44 audio card in my computer where I will record into. Looking for a known good mic pre.

    Thanks guys a lot, Jim

Wow that alot of good info for me – i am thinking how to make the T4060 work.
    two things come to mind;
    1. Can the Mackie Mixer 1202 vlz Pro run the T4060 (be the amp)?
    2. If not is there a way to check the T4060?

A friend heartfully gave me the Mic without the amp that had no more use for it becuse he had throat cancer, so I don’t know if it works. The AT8560 power supply from Audio Technica was like 800 bucks. But if i could find out if it works and the mackie did run it I would realize that the money spent would have to be.

You got me thinking now thanks, Jim
