    Assuming the pc has quicktime, I’d export out of FCP in animation codec. Requires a bit of rendering, but it’s just what animation codec was esigned for.

    Free: fcp’s explode transition. You could also add a bit of ramping glow to it. There are freebie chromatic glow filters you can find out there.

    If you’ve got motion, you could take that slit scan thingie and put it on a side, warp it around to look like what you want.

    Aside: isn’t it funny the way people like making video look like a fim person’s worst nightmare? scratches, light leak, etc

    Bob, try this. Put everything back to the way it was. Boot FCP. Change the scratch disk settings to something local on the machine.

    I THINK you are hanging because fcp is looking for a scratch disk that has been moved. This happened to me, and doing the above fixed it.
