Go to project settings and add the drive where the media is located to Media locations, your clips should start showing up.

The Kona has software that sets up the in and out and should have installed into aplications with the drivers but FCP should have some settings as well. Compared to Media100 HDe this is a big pain to figure out but you want to switch to Analog in and Kona for the Audio and set the timeline for the video format you are using 525 for NTSC or 625 for Pal etc.

To be fair FCP had problems with 720 24p P2 files until the 5.1.2 update and even then if you started in 5.0.4 you needed to re import the P2 files and relink to get the pulldown right.

1. How do I hook up a composite NTSC monitor to this system? I’m using a PVW 2800 as my deck.
Use the green cable of the component cables. or view it thru the deck in e to e if you need to use the component cables to the deck.2. I’m creating a dual boot system with FCP HD on the second drive. How do I get the aja drivers onto the second drive?
Download them from AJAs website and don’t forget the FCP AJA presets.3. How do I create a dual boot system? I’ve installed OSX 10.4.8 on both drives. How will I boot up to each drive?

IndexChanging your startup disk
You can make your computer start up from a CD, a network volume, a different disk or disk partition, or another operating system (such as Mac OS 9 if your computer supports it). To do so, you change your startup disk.Open System Preferences and click Startup Disk.
If necessary, click the lock icon and type the name and password for an administrator user.
Click the icon of the system folder or system volume that you want to use, then click Restart.
IMPORTANT: When selecting a network startup volume, be sure you select a valid network startup volume and not a network install image. Choosing a network install image reinstalls your system software and may erase the contents of your hard disk. A standard network volume icon appears as a globe and Mac OS X system folder. When you select a network volume icon, a message appears in the Startup pane describing the volume. A network install icon appears as a globe with downward pointing green arrow.Another way to select a startup disk is to hold down the Option key as you restart your computer. You’ll see the available startup disks and can select one.

Nothing progressive yet no 720p 24 or otherwise. If it’s recorded with the pulldown over 30 frames SD it will treat it as anyother 29.97 file or if it’s 1080i it will work.

We use Cinematize 2 and just extract an uncompressed quicktime.

A dual G5 does this pretty quick, I don’t know how fast it will be to import back in using the p6000 board or a vincent card.Jim Calahan

When the OS asks you if you want to copy your info from another MAC point it at the old drive you can copy all your aps etc. Some of them will have to be reloaded or updated for the new OS.

Speaking from experience buy a new drive for your new OS (it’s cheap insurance) and do a clean install Tiger will pull your info off of the old drive if you want it to during setup. You also have a second drive you can clean off when you get everything the way you want it on the new one.
