Hopefully this post doesn’t get posted twice.
I am new to Avid, coming from FCP. When I double clicked on a clip in my bin, it appears in the source window, but not in the timeline. Is this correct? If so, how do I get something into the timeline? Also, when I set an in and out point and hit the splice button an “insufficient” error appears. Obvious to me now – i needed a three point edit. But with nothing in my time line this is not possible. However, suddenly a “untitled” sequence appeared in my bin. Did I create this when I hit the splice button? I can’t tell what it is because if I double click on it nothing happens. I feel silly, as I am sure these are all VERY basic questions. But, alas, I am stuck. Hope you can help.
    Thanks!

Thanks so much. Good to know. I think I’m going to exchange the camera for one that has an idv port so that I can actually capture into FCP. But if that option is too pricey, I’ll use a ripper :o)
