Yes I getcha about getting close to the mic…but on an imac I am not even sure where it is, and the one in the mbp is just awful compared to the imac. So I’m trying to get close the imac screen (it’s gotta be there somewhere) and then because of my eyes, I can’t see the screen very well. This is not an ideal situation:) Anyway, I’ll get a mic soon, but there are none here in Nepal to speak of.
On another topic, cause u seem like a brilliant audio guy: I have a spare Canon XL1s camera mike, and I want to make a boom mike outta this, as I really like the mike and it’s just sitting in a drawer. But the connector on the end is the canon two prong thingee, and I need to convert that plug to fit with a standard XLR plug. Any ideas on how to do that? Thx again!!!

Thx so much for the links and great advice. It’s no wonder I sound like a school teacher – I am! And mostly to adults in very large audiences and rooms, often without a mic. Anyway, I was thinking of ordering this one: C03U – Multi-Pattern USB Studio Condenser Microphone, and I actually ordered a blue ball usb once from ebay, but it got lost in the mail or something and never got it. So I have an empty shock mount blue ball shock mount instead. I’m also trying to get my jabra bt3030 bluetooth to work, but I don’t think recording is supported, as it dunna want to work at all. Anyway, I will try your advice on the next tut that I do. It would be nice to not have to spend any more money on gear, considering that I do have an entire protools setup at my disposal, only I am too lazy to walk over there to record. Cheers,

When I did, I remember there was not a lot of control over the pieces using Explosion FX / Explosion but the technique used in the tutorial was pretty good.

yes i see. like with model trains or something? 1/64? All the calculations are manual? Can’t I say if this object is this size, make everything relative somehow. I’m crap at this kinda math.
Also, if working in “world” how come that dimension is not set? Or in other words, where the heck is the ruler? ha!

There is a tut out there on doing this shattering logo, also used in the TV show Fringe, and I went thru the tut once (no longer have the file) and there as a long discussion posted on https://www.photoshopcafe.com about the tut as well. However, that site is down now, and the search function never really works right anyway. But the truth is out there!

yes rolf, this is the practice within the industry, to call something blabla in the USA, and call it albalb in other countries. In asia it’s the 5d as well and I have one and have noticed strange things about the clips outta that cam when in CATDV, but nothing to write home about. Anyway, it’s a great camera and that, along with a 7d, has convinced our in-house filmer that’s all he needs to shoot music vids. they are great for field work too so he claims. cheers,

glad u got it sorted! It seems that FCP is always getting lost along the way from time to time. Good to have a good autosave vault:)
telluride! i spent decades in and around boulder, so i know it well. I always tell folks here that have not been to America that, for example, when trekking in upper mustang, “looks just like Colorado!” In fact, I am known by that phrase…oh, he’s the guy from Colorado.
If there is anything I miss about America, it would be hiking in the Rockies or hanging out at the cabin on the lake in Mt. Evans. It’s not quite the same here:)

Have not seem that one yet, but perhaps FCP can’t write the finished file to disk? In the dir you are exporting to, flip over there and see if there is a zero-4K byte file created when the export starts and is chugging along. Have u tried to export to different disk locations, disks, etc?
Or perhaps it’s something like a missing or corrupt render file. Ha, I am too bleary eyed right now to be of much help…
