  • Cutting up a logo and shattering it.

Originally I cut up a piece of glass and put an alpha logo texture on it, and got a pretty good shatter.

But now I have to do a similar effect to the logo. After I extrude the logo, make it editable, and do a few other things just to make it one object I’m not getting the same explosion effect.

Here is my problem with messing with explode segments and disconnect, I get a bunch of caps and rounded edges exploding everywhere.

This is my render is looking when I use Explosion FX, I’m getting way to many pieces, I just want big pieces for key points, and a bunch of little pieces where I cut it up.

    Who doesn’t fall, cannot rise.

There is a tut out there on doing this shattering logo, also used in the TV show Fringe, and I went thru the tut once (no longer have the file) and there as a long discussion posted on https://www.photoshopcafe.com about the tut as well. However, that site is down now, and the search function never really works right anyway. But the truth is out there!

Not sure if the answer is in this tut or not, but it might be worth a go thru:

When I did, I remember there was not a lot of control over the pieces using Explosion FX / Explosion but the technique used in the tutorial was pretty good.

    Good luck!
