thanks tim for that, no virus problems here:) but trying to write to a NTFS drive that has one is a pain in the butt, as most client’s PC drives do have something bad on them here. I can’t write NTFS from our macs, I have to open up Parallels Desktop, and then I can. How do u do that from OSX? Anyway, I think next time I will take previous advice and just not capture in Apple codec if going to PC…I had no idea that those 422s and 444s were not supported by PC and Quicktime there. Seems odd. Also did not know that PPro could open an FCP project – wow! But I bet that requires CS4 with updates no?:) cheers!!!

jon, thx so much for that. makes sense now. I tried using episode pro to transcode the FCP capture into an AVI file, with limited success. The video coded fine, but the audio fell apart a few minutes in. But the client left with his harddrive knowing the audio was a problem, which I also supplied as a wav file. I cringe everytime pc people come into the shop, for example, his external was riddled with conflicker virus and formatted in NTFS. When will people learn? Cheers!

Anamorphicizer did it! it actually changed the width to 1000. Strange that, but it looks fine. Cheers!

oh crapo Tom!! It worked when I changed the width of the file, which I immediately saw in iDVD preview. But then I burned the project and it was again at 4:3. I tried reimporting the file with the same old results. There is something very wrong here, as QT clearly sees the file at 1024×576, but will not retain a file that has an unpreserved aspect ration (maybe that bit is the problem?). I think I am now going to try your other programs…

Hi, thx for that tip, yes, I checked there and was using 16:9 pan-scan and the video looked fine in the viewer but during simulation both the menu and the track is at 4:3!
Anyway, still trying to resolve this. This KB: https://support.apple.com/kb/TS2179 seems to indicate that there is/was a problem with iDVD interpreting a 16:9 sequence, and even after checking/following, there is nothing good to report…

Judy, you can cut and paste layer elements between ID and IA, so in a sense the template could be replicated that way. I don’t think you can copy and paste the guides, but not sure. So you could just recreate the size of the artboard in IA to match the one in ID, then copy and paste all the elements over. That would preserver your text. But some effects may be lost (transparency, etc.) but those can be recreated. Good luck!

r u on a mac by chance? there is a serious problem between MS and Adobe regarding the preservation of links. But if you are indesign, and you create the links there, you should be able to save a PDF out of indesign that works. But links that come from Word probally won’t work. This is true if you just use Mac word 2008, and say create a table of contents and make a PDF. Those links go dead. MS and Adobe are aware of this (according to MVPs on Mactopia) but the two companies are in a deadlock with finger pointing. hope this helps!

thx for all that, yes, there are two problems the shooter is trying to address, well, 3 if you count his fussy girl subject. he needs to smooth her skin and also needs DOF for some of the shots. There is no such thing as renting in Nepal. Unless he wanted to just rent a movie camera. Im sure we can find other uses for the M2. I just shoot straight docs, and don’t do the music vids unless I am forced into it. looks like i am already getting sucked into this one! ps. appreciate all the great tips, thats why i come here.
