With the cards, there will be 52 unique values. I’m going to go read that tutorial.

You think your computer sucks?1.1 GHz Intel Celeron
512 MB PC-133 SDRAM (upgraded from 128)
17″ Gateway CRT + secondary 15″ ZDS (slow as christmas when I use it, though)
2 x 20 GB, 1 x 160 GB HDDs (upgraded from 1 x 20 GB) -
While re-reading my original post, I discovered some ambiguous language. I don’t mean a script that will figure out what cards are being shown on the video or how much someone is betting, I mean something where I can input the value and it’ll show up on the screen. I would especially like some way to automate the player’s name and bar sliding out when they fold. That would be terrific.
Thanks in advance.

January 15, 2006 at 4:57 am in reply to: Strategies / Theories / Workflow on how to approach a video project — HELP!!I find myself wondering how anyone could like my product, too. I recently put together a montage-ish highlights video (about 4 minutes) of my friend’s football game in his front yard. I sat down one day, told myself I wasn’t going to turn it into a week or month long deal, and finished it in a day. I gave up some of the cool synching stuff I could have done, but I honestly don’t think my audience would notice the difference.
When I begin to get obsessive, I ask myself…. “Will the average, non-technical consumer really notice if [insert time-consuming effect] isn’t in the final product. Will it negatively affect their view of my product and reputation?”
The answer is usually no.

Thanks! I’ve practiced a bit with these velocity envelopes and although it has a learning curve, I’ve found it to be an extremely powerful feature. I’m doing a highlights video for a friend’s backyard football game (set to Numb by Linkin Park!) and I’ve got slow-mo and I actually accidentally found out how to reverse footage, and it all makes for a great effect.
Thanks so much!

I just thought of this. Since I rendered to a DVD compliant format, I didn’t transcode it. Perhaps I need to transcode to interpret?

I’ve read this in various places, but the option is always greyed out in both the File and right-click menus. I’ve tried in while it’s in the timeline, in the project but not in a timeline, and about every other way you can think of. It’s M2V footage straight from After Effects. It’s 1.5 hours long.

I just realized I had all that stuff in my signature… oh well.

I would imagine not so much since there is more resolution. I’m no expert in HDTV, but I’d figure the progressive HDs might have either eliminated that problem or at least diminished it.

Thanks for the advice. I think I’ll try the colored sheet (green or blue) outside next time I start a project.
Painting the family is tempting… but I don’t have any paint.
