FYI my problem returned after one day. Word has it a new version of Premiere drops in a few days. I really, really hope they fix this ridiculous issue…

I’ve been having this problem for months now. Have to replace all my constant power fades with keyframes to render with no noise issues.

2 computers, 2 separate software downloads (7.2.1), same issue. Killing me.

A tech at Adobe spent a good while on the phone with me today and was able to fix the issue by going into my library and “recreating preference assets”. Basically he added “_old” after a few select folder names, forcing Premiere to create new ones, which solved the issue. Haven’t done much rendering since but I’ve had 3 successful tests so far.

I asked the tech for instructions on how to do this on my end, but he said to call and ask for help doing it. That’s scary because I know if I call on this again I’ll have to start from square one with some poor Indian guy who will probably be confused as to what I mean and try to convince me to “create a guest user account”, “clean cache”, and all the other by the book stuff that never works…

  • I spoke to an Adobe tech and he told me Adobe is aware of the problem and working with AMD to fix it. I reminded him that Adobe has a post on their site saying their software is compatible with AMD’s Firepro cards. For now I’m rendering on my old system when possible, otherwise the only fix is turning off openCL rendering.

In case you haven’t noticed, the problem occurs with rendering to other formats like Prores as well.

    Bummer for now.

  • Thanks Ryan. I submitted the bug report already too.

  • Sorry I’ve been unable to respond until now…

The phantom operator created the proxies using Davinci Resolve, dying which he applied some color settings. I spoke to him on the phone and he had no specific advice, only telling me that the .cine clips should be supported in Premiere Pro. I no longer have the raw .cine clips, but can tell you I tried accessing the source settings but had no option to make the color look right.

    THANK YOU

  • Cheers for the advice Rainer.

  • Thanks Chris.

The drive hardware wasn’t the issue. G Tech sent me an entire new raid to help troubleshoot.

As for all the other tests, they would take over a week so I can’t get into those. I’ll just buy a solid RAID next time. By the way, I wasn’t aware the G tech raids weren’t solid until this happened. My first time around the block with a raid.

If anyone else reads these threads, I’d just be stoked to get a short list of the best raid systems that won’t break the bank. thanks!

  • Interesting Joe.

This point was never raised during my entire experience. I don’t know exactly what kind of drives I have in this RAID, and am scared to pull one to find out, but according to G Technology they are SATA III Enterprise class, but I’m no expert.

thanks for the info. I’ll definitely consider it when I get my next RAID.

  • Honestly can’t remember. It’s been quite a while. All I can tell you is I was talked through the process by both ATTO techs (the raid controller) and G Techs. Neither method worked. Had nothing to do with anything other than a bad design by G Tech unfortunately.
