    Phil,
I figured out my issue, and it wasn’t with AE. I am using a PC without built in speakers, and as far as I can tell the OS wasn’t generating an audio preview if I didn’t open AE (or QuickTime) with headphones plugged in. So all I had to do was make sure to plug in my phones before I started working. It’s a stupid limitation of the OS (and very frustrating when you know all your settings are correct) and another reason to go with a mac. I hope this helps.

    Dave,
I checked the time controls, the prefrences, the computer volume, and now the output module (audio was on). What’s weird is that AE sees the audio. There are waveforms, its shows up in the audio panel, it outputs audio, and I can even hear it when I ctrl+scrub, I just cant get it to audio preview, or RAM preview w/ audio.

    Dave,
The RAM Preview is set to Ram Preview. Is this right?

    Dave,
I feel like I’ve checked just about everywhere, but I’m not quite which setting (or where it is located) you’re talking about. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Thanks. Although I’m on a workstation right now, and a bit weary of it, I’ll chalk it up to poor treatment by the previous users. What about the different intel chips, and graphics cards?
