    Thanks Rob.

I will thoroughly go through the whole check list. By accident, I changed to the Capture/Input setting to something offbeat like PAL and Anamorphic and got the Preview Disabled to go away. However, I have not been successful in encoding a video that is in sync with the audio. I’ve been able to try different Capture setting but the audio is always way off. The material is DV format and on the camcorder – its fine.

Now, I’m back to square one. I changed the Capture/Input settings and I get a flash of the video signal – a second before getting the dreaded “Preview Disabled” screen returns. I’m back to being stuck with Preview Disabled over-riding Capture/Input setting.

To add to my setup information, I am using a Z1U camera via FW400 and plugging directly into the laptop FW400 input. I also have a dual FW800 enclosure with SATA drives also plugged into the FW800 laptop input. Both FW inputs are occupied.

I’ve used this setup before with 5.0.1 but now with 6.0.4 its been a nightmare!

Never had so much trouble with FCP!!!!! I used FCP since version 2.

    Thanks again.

All lithiums pack a tremendous punch. Even laptop batteries, or Mini Dv, HDV decks – your cell phone – all have these same rechargeable lithiums. My laptop battery – an Apple 17inch Duo Core 2 imploded and I noticed this while on a flight. Nothing happened.

Best to carry-on two batteries 160w’s. You shouldn’t need more than two 160w’s on most shoots anyway. If you need more power – try a combination of two 95w batteries in which you can have as many as you want.

The best thing is to do some research and find respectable products on the market. Ask about the batteries, who makes them, what cell grade is used, references, etc.

Here is a reliable manufacture and site:

Lets not create a panic – flying today is already too complicated.

Many thanks. Didn’t realize I was cutting close to the DMR issue. Of course, everything here is above the table. Appreciate the quick replies.

    Best wishes.
