When you viewed it on the timeline did you view it under “Best” “Full”? If not, go back and take a look. Sometimes if you are using draft or preview settings the locals of items do not always show up spot on.

Make sure they are named the same (differing extensions) and in the same folder. If you have done this, once you drag the video stream to the timeline the audio should follow suit automatically.

Take a look at http://www.vasst.com as well as Jet DV’s site. There are plenty of goodies to go around. However, if you are looking for a plethora of plugins such as what photoshop has, Vegas doesn’t have them. With that being said, there is a gold mine out there in scripting that Vegas makes extensive use of. So, take a look at the two sites above and you will find other resources there as well.

When you say “sometimes” what are you doing when it does this? It sounds like if it is rendering out that way, then it has something to do with your fx settings. Also, make sure you check the field order to make sure it is still matching your project (in one of the previous versions I had an issue with reversed footage mixing up the field order of the reversed event). I have no idea why it would do this on your encoded file on the crossfades, unless there are fx that you did not mention.

I believe that you can use those avi files and just add to them. So, if the render stops at 87%, start another encode at just a little before where the issue is and take both avi’s into a new project and render them out there (or you can use a separate program such as womble to just stitch them together- although womble may only just be for mpg files).

Based on the test you did, it sounds like you are running into memory issues or else it still would have been freezing at the same place. I would be curious to see what your page file usage looks like when rendering out the timeline- have you watched it?

Try doing a “render selection only” of half the project to avi and then select the second half and do the same thing if you have already deleted the partially rendered file.

October 8, 2008 at 1:06 pm in reply to: CPU problem

What is your processor speed, amount of ram and your page file size? It could be that your laptop is underpowered for the type of files you are editing and the other computers are not. I assume the 100% cpu usage (and the comparison) comes during attempting to play from the timeline? What fx are you using if any?

Have you closed out of everything else (background processes) that is not necessary to run windows or Vegas/Acid?

How long has it been doing this? Ever since you first installed them? If there was a time when it worked well, then we know it is a conflict with something installed on your pc. If it never has and you know it runs well on other pc’s, then your laptop is at fault. I don’t know what you have installed on it, however you may want to do a clean install of windows and see if that makes a difference (I suspect it will) unless your issue is hardware related.

    Not Steve 🙂

However, 8.1 will be of no advantage to you (and most likely will not even install) on a 32 bit machine. You will want to go the 8.0c route.

Would you mind sharing what type of camera (model) and still give some details? I have never heard of issues importing M2T files with no audio. Were the files AVCHD?

Anyways, I just wanted to see if you would satisfy my curiosity.
