I’ll try to clarify. Let’s say you have Comp 1 with an image and Comp 2 with a different image. In the main comp, you have Comp 1 first and then where Comp 1 ends, Comp 2 begins. You have an Adjustment Layer, just about where the two meet. In the adjustment layer you have some effects that make the transition from Comp 1 and Comp 2 more smooth than just a jump cut.

When the kick drum hits, maybe 2 seconds apart each hit, something triggers where the transition is activated. The first kick it transitions from Comp 1 to Comp 2, the next kick, transitions from Comp 2 to Comp 1. Or if there is a third comp, on the second kick, it would transition between Comp 2 and Comp 3.

I don’t want a simple cut, just a very quick transition to make it look smooth.

Does that make sense?

I’m not too familiar with this feature but I think I found what you were talking about. Is it the box in-between “shy” and “quality and sampling”? If I check it on all the way done to the text layer it does allow me to control if the text receives light, but other images got bigger and some of the effects I used look strange now, so I’m not too sure what’s going on.

Don’t think I’ll have enough time to fix it, but I’ll know next time to keep this feature in mind and research exactly what’s happening.

It would be a great benefit in my case, I think also for those creating templates. Having control over the frequencies is nice, but not always needed. Even with the audio spectrum effect, it seems that the data is there already, since you don’t have to generate key frames automatically. You update the audio and it updates automatically. It still reacts to the audio and gives you control of the frequencies being displayed which is why I was hoping there would be a way to pull the data from it.

Is there a plugin perhaps that will generate a value automatically I can simply link to or a script that could give me this functionality?

Thank you! I think for what I’m working on the speed of the video is not important and there is no sound, so I’ll look into conforming the footage in AE’s interpret footage setting.

But for the future, is there a frame rate conversion software you recommend?

Thanks for your reply! I’ve maybe been using for 4 months, I’ve done pretty good so far, and I’ve seen some basic courses already, but I don’t remember seeing anything about this problem I’m having. I just bought a subscription to videoblocks so I’m just now getting into using stock video. Where as before it was just kinetic typography work and some still graphics I’d animate.

I just need to know how to fix this particular problem right now and tackle anything else I might come across when I get to them as I only have a limited amount of time to work on this project. I’ll research frame rate conversion to see what I can find out, but I take it that’s probably my problem.

Nice dude! This is much closer to what I want. I used the auto-trace and placed a stroke effect on it using a stroke of like 5 pixels, and then made it a trackmat to reveal the sketch. Certainly quick and easy just one problem though…. The client wants the illustration drawn in a certain order, they want the foreground drawn first and the background drawn last, here it just randomly draws different areas of the image, however, I might be able to create several layers in Photoshop to split the foreground from the background to control that. Also, it doesn’t draw a continuous line, for example, the client wants the outline of the characters drawn first, one at a time. I’ll try separating them into layers and see what happens.

Also, just so you know, I did manage to use the brush tool to create the effect I want, and it looks amazing!

The only downside to that is that I’m literally redrawing the entire sketch, taking a couple of hours sometimes more. After I was done, it was made up of 350 plus brush strokes! But I was able to control where the drawing starts, the going back and forth motion, drawing foreground to background, drawing the outlines first, etc. But if I can some how use auto-trace, I could save tons of time! They have many illustrations to sketch out.

Anyway, thanks for the tip, I think I might can get it to work. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Thanks for the feedback! That might work, but I’m thinking that it would take too long for such a detailed sketch. Plus I’m looking for more of a sketching feel, more like the movement of a pencil, going back and forth.

I’ll give it a try and see, maybe it’s just what I’m looking for, but from experimenting with the brush tool, and looking how it animates my strokes, I think is more of the feel I’m looking for if I can use it.

Another option I’m thinking of is if there might be away to convert the sketch into paths and somehow apply the brush strokes automatically and animate them?
