Yeah just watch the tutorial again, Kramer spends like 1/3 of the tutorial just covering this…

Andrew Kramer has a tutorial on just this, but you gotta buy his DVD.

Its called “Creative Cow Serious Effects And Compositing”

I don’t have a copy, but I’ve seen my friends copy and if I had cash, I’d pick it up in a heartbeat 🙂

    Hope this helps 🙂

Well, unfortunately its more than just CCPW at work there… I also had to throw in Trapcode’s SHINE plugin to get the fiery look, it just wasn’t working right without it..

If you need any of th einfo I’d be more than happy to share, shoot me an email if need be.

There’s another way to this which gives you a little more control and allows you to blend it with other layers..

I did a DBZ-style aura and had to feather and mask parts of it..

ended up like this in the time line:

ORIGINAL FOOTAGE DUPLICATE (with masks and feathers added here)
    CC PARTICLE WORLD
    ORIGINAL FOOTAGE

    Here’s how it turned out..
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=weXo2r3gdrs

You’ll notice the aura is around me completely, but in front you can barely see tinges of blue where I feathered it.

Hope this gives you some more possibilities 🙂

April 28, 2008 at 7:09 am in reply to: shatter effect

See if the shatter plugin is still on your computer..

(pc is C:\program files\adobe\Adobe After Effects CS3\Support Files\Plug-ins\Effects by default)

Although for you it wont say CS3 – im guessing it’ll be 6.5 or whatever..

just look in the program files\adobe folder then into support files\plug-ins\Effects

if its not in there I believe you can pull it off your cd (or do a reinstall)

if it IS in there, then AE is just being stupid and I don’t know whats up heh

    Hope this helps..

How are you doing your actual bullet?

its it “matrixy” where you SEE the bullet / waves in the air?

or are you just using the flash and making holes? (meaning standard stuff where you wouldnt see the bullet)?

If its matrixy it’ll be harder.. but if its normal you’re on the right track, just make sure you do it at a slight angle so you can see the wall where it hits, the demon, and the muzzle flash in the same scene (at least thats how i’d do it).

The only other thing you might want to try, is maybe a small displacement map over top of the demons chest (or impact area) kinda like ripples in a pond signifying that it just phased right through him…

Let me know if this helps or if you need more info.. I might not know a lot – but I have some decent ideas 🙂

    Good luck 🙂
