  • After FX, Maya and Zaxwerks 3d invigorator PLEASE HELP!!!

Posted by Jeremy Fabiano on March 28, 2008 at 7:34 am

Ok.. I couldn’t really find any information that helped me so hopefully one of you fellow artists can help me out…

Here’s what my roomie and I are doing:

He’s using Maya 8.5 and making 3d models (with textures).
I’m running AE CS3 with zaxwerks 3d invigorator (pro version)

We exported our model as a .obj file (and it included a .mtl which im guessing is our material list for the textures).

We import into AE with 3d inv. and most of it works except the textures.

Can someone PLEASE explain how to get our textures and colors to show up on our model so we dont have a generic colored model imported?

    Thanks ahead of time…

    greetings Jeremy,
Invigorator Pro only sees Targas as your material option, it isn’t very friendly to textures because of the lack of customability (sp?). I hope this helps, feel free to email me if you need further assistance.

    Gabriel,

    Thanks for the info 🙂

So would I just tell Maya to export a materials/textures list as a .targa file somehow and have it work that way?

    Thanks again.

yes. another note. to give you more flexibility of texture control, precomp your texture, import it into the main comp and select it inside invigorator as a layer map, from there you can control positioning. Go to the Zaxworks forum on Creative Cow and they might have a more detailed explanation on how to use it.
