True, I’d prefer progressive scan as well.. but these POS Quasar camcorders just don’t seem to have that feature 🙁 Hehe.. still trying to save up for a real camera, but these darn bills keep getting in the way.. Maybe someday, right?

Another tip with interlaced footage is to de-interlace it, export it as something like quicktime animation preset, then reimport it and key that. I’ve had very good results doing it that way. There’s a decent workaround by Kramer for doing such things.. I’d link to it for ya but I’m at work >.>

Yeah this goes above and beyond my memory banks 🙁
Although.. depending on the particle look youre after you might be able to fake it..
could take several instances of the effect youre using, rotate the solids on x, z, and y and try to make a sphere shape then precomp the whole thing and rasterize + add a camera (i think?)
it wont be ful 3d but it might be just good enough to work …
Good luck, hope you find a workable solution!

How did you constrain them in 2d? I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with Particular.. to my knowledge, its just the regular AE particle engine on crack.. (of course I’m not entirely positive) but it would seem to me that the same technique might work in Particular, have you tried it yet?

To add to that, if you still want to use the point of interest (especially as it would be possible to ‘look around’ if you chose to) you could add a second null and put it in ‘front’ of the first null and link the POI to that null (3d as well of course).
Kind of like a train, with the camera on the back car, and the POI on the front car. Then you could move the front null left/right/up/down and the camera will ‘look’ that direction. The farther the space between the nulls, the more movement is needed to swing the camera.
Hope this inspires some ideas and good luck 🙂

Thank you for the link!
I’m submitting it now, hoping it’s something they’ll fix 🙂

True for the most part, but I do think it’s part of After Effects as you should also be able to preview on a 2nd monitor (or other, I have 3 monitors, sometimes 4 on my system). There was an AE plugin by some german company, but no one on here’s even heard of it, it allowed AE to show a live preview on any monitor of your choosing, but I dunno about buy overseas stuff without knowing someone who’s done business with them before.. A lot of shifty people in the world. No sense in giving someone my CC# to find my bank acct empty :S
If someone can do that with a 200-500kb plugin, then Adobe can add in that feature with some disclaimer about it not being exactly 100% accurate. Just my opinion lol…

A good portion of us could probably do your project, but you’ve yet to mention WHY we should? (compensation.. is this charity work?).
Also, most of us prefer NOT to speak in the projects ourselves, so Russian speaker or not, you might be out of luck (and no I don’t speak Russian.. But I hear google’s translator thing works decently).
Look at my signature for further information on my reply..

export the animation, import it and loop it in the interpret footage dialog
OR
Apply time remapping to the layer.
Extend its out point to the end of your comp.
Reveal the time-remapping keyframes.
Alt-click (opt-click) on one of them to set up an expression.
Select the little triangle to reveal the expression menu, then
under “property”, click the loop out expression:
“loop_out(type = “cycle”, num_keyframes = 0)”.-Jeremy

Cool 🙂
One thing I kind of remember having to do somewhere is when linking to another object, it couldnt do 3d axis, but it had a 3rd parameter that acted like a Z, so i made a null, linked the POS’s and linked that parameter to the null’s Z and automated that..
When I get home tonight I’ll see if I kept that project file, I can’t remember why I did it, had something to do with moving a lensflare or particle emitter.. or something that might prove a tiny bit helpful..
