Now that that puts me in a 23.98 timeline, when I conform my 60p footage, should I conform to 23.98 instead of 24?

So what would your timeline settings be?

Lets say I drop a 24/1080 clip in first and set my timeline to match those settings. When I do that, my 720 clips are scaled down.

OK, I figured out a way. Please let me know if there is an easier
way.

This is how I do this.

Select the clip(Which highlights Video/Audio tracks).
Short cut cmd+L (Unlinks Video/Audio tracks)
Select/highlight both audio tracks
Short cut cmd+L (links both Audi tracks, but is unlinked from video)

Any other way? Quicker? Smarter?

WOW. First I would like to say Thank you all for your input.

I guess my next thing to settle is..

Ok I want to capture/edit my HDV footage in FCP and EXPORT

I then want to do effects in AE CS3 on my PC and then Export

With my Final export being in HD for the web.

Any suggestions?? I heard No H.264, VERY BAD?

So, Please correct me…

I will Capture – HDV 1080/24p and edit CORRECT?
Then I will export to what? For play/edit on AEcs3(PC)?
Then export my AEcs3 to what? (For uploading to the web in HD)

If someone could help me with this. I may be on my merry way, and I will not have to bother you guys anymore. haha

Thanks Andy. That seemed to work. BUT is it because it’s the demo that I am getting a big grey rectangle over my footage? How much is the full version?

Ok, I will go the ProRes route after all. What is a step by step process? I use Compressor.

For footage that I have already captured/edited in HDV I need to..

Use compressor and select..?

For future use, I need to capture my hdv footage in FCP by…

Audio/video settings

Sequence Presest: ?????

Capture Preset: HDV – Apple ProRes 422 (HQ or No HQ?)

Device control Preset: HDV FireWire Basic NDF ?

…Then edit my footage, and EXPORT to???

Hope you guys can help me! I sure need it.
