Wow that’s odd then. I’m viewing on internet explorer 9 on a windows 7 PC. Even on chrome and safari its the same.
Its the words © COPYRIGHT CASCADE PICTURES 2012 that I want centered on the screen along the “film strip footer”, but on all my browsers its coming up on the far right?

July 24, 2012 at 10:45 pm in reply to: Trouble working this one webpage on a Smartphone, any ideas why?Hi Mike
Thanks for the suggestions..
I tried the validation and corrected everything I could. The CSS is perfect now but as for the rest, those I couldn’t fix are from the coding used by JW player and if changed makes the player unusable.
Other than those parts of the code everything else is fine, yet still the same issue remains. The pages are identical in code otherwise. Its odd though as there doesn’t appear to be any issue of this kind with anyone else using JW player anywhere on the net.
I’m starting to think more that it is an Android or Samsung issue then..
I guess its a bug I will have to live with and state that the page will not work on Android unless I find a player without such issues (if indeed those code problems are the issue). Can anyone suggest another more reliable player for video content I could use?

Thanks for the post..
Yes I may well do that again but I think there is something else going on in this case as I think the issue was there even before I switched to the JW player. It may well be the new ICS android that is having a problem but it seems very random and not related to the video player so was hopeing there was some rogue code I somehow have in the page that is causing the issue, but is really a stab in the dark to anyone who may have encountered this already or similar..
I will trial and error through it to see what I can discover by doing as you’ve suggested. If I manage to solve it I will post here.
thanks again

Thanks for the post, yeah that is pretty much the settings I’ve used anyway so looks like this is as good as I will get it. I guess I’ve just forgotten how DVD quality looks having watched too much HD over the past few years.
thanks again

Yeah the code is spot on as I just switched the video straight into the link and tried it and same outcome so its definitely the video! So ultimately The code unchanged works with the working flash video on my site but not with the video that is in question.. 🙁
Off to the flash forums so see how that goes.. wish me luck 😉

July 20, 2012 at 5:32 pm in reply to: SWF video will not play in FIREFOX or SAFARI but fine in IE and CHROMEok I did that with a flash movie that is used on my websites home page. That works on both safari and IE.. so that’s all good. Butthat swf file is located in the same folder as the demoreel swf file that is not playing.. so its very odd that basically in terms of the path the video is in the same folder and both work on IE but one works on safari and the other doesn’t? I thought flash was invented to not have such issues cross browser?
So I guess the next step should be to go to the flash section and see what the folks over there might be able to add about why the video would be the issue? That’s at least a step in the right direction. Thanks again..

July 20, 2012 at 4:59 pm in reply to: SWF video will not play in FIREFOX or SAFARI but fine in IE and CHROMEOk I made the test page:
https://www.cascadepictures.co.uk/test2
Still the same outcome for me. The swf plays fine off the local drive but not off the site. The white box appears. the controls are there when you hover over where the video should be and when you press play the buffer bar starts to fill but then gets green stripes along it indicating something is not right.
So all in all the test page has the same issues as my previous one. The swf is uploaded to the ftp so it can’t be that its pointing to a video that is not there..

July 20, 2012 at 6:18 am in reply to: SWF video will not play in FIREFOX or SAFARI but fine in IE and CHROMEOh ok will do that. Thanks. Will post it later today.
Out of curiosity what in the swf file itself could cause a problem? I don’t know that much about the workings of flash based video so if its possible then is good to know what could cause issues.
Wool get on to the test page and see what happens..

July 19, 2012 at 10:37 pm in reply to: SWF video will not play in FIREFOX or SAFARI but fine in IE and CHROMEThanks for having a look…
I have uploaded these 2 versions:
https://www.cascadepictures.co.uk/reeltest
https://www.cascadepictures.co.uk/reeltest2On the first one I just replaced the entire swf object code with the code that others have been using from around the google searches just adjusting the size and name of the swf its pointing to etc.
But I get a broken flash symbol on dreamweaver and no video plays..
On the second one I did the same but I added an object ID and connected directly to the swf file using the pick whip which then made the video play off the local drive without a broken flash symbol but when uploaded does not play on any browser.
The code in question starts at line 301
