Hi Curtis
Thanks for the response, Sorry I forgot to update this topic after I fixed the issue which was probably just before you had a chance to look at the pages in question.. it was a case of me not defining and referencing the jwplayer. Once I did that everything was ok 🙂
How would I go about leveraging html5 video? It’s not something I have looked at but would want to do so yes.

Hi Matt
thank you for responding, I had a look at the code and line you mentioned, i think that was a tag for a twitter script I had put in a new place and left that “script” tag behind.. deleted it now but that is not the cause… 🙁
for note the JW player begins at line 340 ending at 359.
thanks again

I have been wanting to try the XF305 for a while on a project and it looks like that may be the winner for this one. I just wanted to cover the possibility of problems in post and get a nice look too of course so all in all everyone has been a massive help on this decision.
Thanks all

I really just wanted to cover my bases and the consensus appears to be that the rolling shutter used by DSLR cameras can create problems with fast panning that even high end motion tracking software can have issues with.
I will be likely going with a CCD camera and shooting at a high frame rate to help rid the motion blur as much as possible. I will be using either ‘mocha’ or ‘camera traker’ but may have access to ‘boujou’ when the time comes so not worried about the quality of the software.
thanks again

Seems the consensus is to go with a CCD camera and not DSLR so will likely try your suggestion. I will also definitely be shooting at the higher frame rate and changing in post.
Thanks again really appreciate the suggestions and advice.
Jeremy.
PS When the project gets completed I will post the results..

Sorry for the delayed response, have had a lot of work come in out of the blue so just getting back to this project now.
Everything you described is spot on with my issues. I did wonder if it was down to an interlacing problem and makes sense that that is the reason now.
Creating that bending on the composite layer is very difficult and time consuming so will go with a non-DSLR camera just to be safe then.
Are there any DSLRs that are progressive scan out now or on the horizon?I intend to degrade the footage in post for a “consumer” camera ‘look’ anyway so just getting a good track and a depth in the footage is what I really need so the next step is finding the best CCD camera that will do the job at the lowest rental price possible.
Thanks again

September 5, 2012 at 9:18 pm in reply to: Which camera would be best for motion tracking?Hi thanks for the response..
I am fairly good with motion tracking but have had issues with some cameras that due in part to their compression and a lot to do with their motion blur kind of bend the image in places (tech issue or design issue I don’t know) but that bending makes it impossible to track without a LOT of manual changes so the workflow and is effectively far too damaged to warrant even working on in any realistic time scale.
I don’t want to effect the image in any way as would do that in post also. so shutter speed I guess might be out of the options here. I just need as crisp and clean an image devoid of motion blur so the tracker can find the pixels and not lose them in movement. Even with Boujou badly blurred and randomly bent pixels cause a lot of issues so am trying to minimize that really.
I guess if there is no real clear winner in regard to the best camera then a list of those to steer clear of might be a better way to start to figure out what to go for so any suggestions on that are also much appreciated..

August 27, 2012 at 10:46 pm in reply to: What steps would you use to create an animated liquid forming from a swirl into a final object form?Hi thanks for the suggestion
Looks like a nice plugin for sure, but am hoping not to go the route of another expense on top of realflow.
Really looking for a relatively simple workflow that someone may have used themselves to produce the same result or similar to compare the steps used even if by just using After effects or Cinema4D alone if that’s possible.
thanks

Yes that is the same workflow I was considering. I have done that before also with a liquid text for my logo.
But what I want to do in this case is a bit more organic:
The “liquid” has to move within a thin shell in the form of a “swirl” which has to animate around and around and then finally end as another larger shell which is the form of an animal model.
I was going to create both of these “shells” in cinema 4D the workflow with realflow is a bit complicated with regards to making the animation come together right? so wanted to see if anyone had a better workflow or way of doing the whole thing maybe even without realflow?

August 23, 2012 at 11:33 pm in reply to: Any ideas what I’m missing to cause the footer on this page to reposition incorrectly?yes sorry about that, I hadn’t explained the problem very well.
That has solved it, taking off the padding. I think i placed that padding there before for another and forgot about it. taking it off now centers the text.
Thanks again
