Just thought I’d give a bit of an update…Seems like in a round about way I was able to capture the HDV footage from my XHA1 into Priemiere CS5.

I fired up my system, connected cam with firewire and powered up in VCR/Play.

The computer recognized the cam, and indicated that the device was running properly…however I didn’t get an Autoplay window pop up allowing me to go capture in Premiere.

I opened Premiere manually…went to “Capture”…and like many times before the Capture window said “Device Off-Line”….conisiten with the trouble I’ve been having since the start…however, this time as a last ditch effort I pressed play on the camera itself, and low and behold the video was displayed in the capture window.

I still didn’t have device control…but I was able to press the record button in the capture window, and my footage started to download…with no video display in the capture window (but that’s normal I guess). I used the LCD on the camera to figure out where to start and stop my recordings.

I still believe something is not right…but the main thing is that I was able to get my footage in and start working!

My trouble now is I’d like to export my edited project back to the tape…I’ve been through the on-line CS5 manual and the camera manual and I can’t get anything to work…I’ve Prepared the sequence to export to tape…but when I go to “File” “Export”…the “Export to Tape” is grayed out. I feel like I’ve tried everything possible and just can’t get the “Export to Tape” option to activate…or get my camera to display the sequence on the LCD when in record/pause mode.

…needing some assistance once again! 😉

Yeah did that…that was one of the seven steps. Also I should clarify…that when capture settings are set to hdv the capture window does say “device off line” but I can still control the camera…just doesn’t seem to read the video data.

Thanks again for the quick response! Much appreciated!

Yeah I recall that with my old system, but all I have is a Black screen in the capture window.

Yeah…and I can control the camera with the controls in the capture window just no preview and when I press play there is no timecode displayed…works as it should when I switch the capture setting back to DV.

Yeah thats what I usually do…and have no trouble when the cam is set to downconvert, and the Capture settings is set to DV as opposed to HDV. I’ve downloaded HD with this camera and my old system…but got a new system and windows 7 fairly recently and have only been able to do sd downloads/capture. I can impot and edit with HDV…just can’t capture for some reason.

Did step 8 still no luck

Thanks for the reply…yeah I’ve been reading that. I’ve gone through the first 7 of 8 steps with no luck. Will try Step 8 shortly…
