Glad you got it figured out. I had the same problem once and it was simply because my transfer setting were different from the footage settings. 24fps vs. 30fps. Next time double check the settings to make sure they match. Just a thought.

I am not incredibly technical but Soundtrack should be able to handle this and contains all of the filters that you mentioned and you can listen in real time. What kind of system are you running because it shouldn’t be crashing like that. I would try again, or if you are working on a slower system make sure that you are not trying to run a lot of programs at once because this could be slowing you down more. But since you have experienced crashing, if you get it working, obviously remember to save, save, save. good luck.

Anytime you want to move or copy clips, or a project with the media files it is best to go through the media manager. It does all the work for you and makes sure that the media will be connected and present when you open the copied project. All you need to do is select which clips you want to copy, choose file then media manager. In the media section choose copy, select include render files, set your destination in the media destination section, deselect “delete unused media from duplicated items and make sure under project section the duplicate selected items and place into new project IS selected then hit okay and save. Any other method usually leads to sad days of trying to figure out what went wrong. good luck.

You can also use command-option-f to open a copy of the clip with a match frame and change the speed of that clip then just use replace.
