    Hi,

why I can not change speed of the clip in the middle of the sequence? it always reports “unable to complete command. a conflict occurred during a trim operation”…

When I move the clip to the end of sequence then I can change the speed but it is too complicated to always move the clip there and back. Is there any way to speedup or slowdown the clip on the spot.

You can speed the clip up in the middle of a timeline, but you cannot slow it down. It’s a known issue, and a pain. One workaround is to drag the clip up a track, make your adjustment, and take it back down.

The error message pops up because FC cannot lengthen the clip if there is another right behind it in the timeline.

You can also use command-option-f to open a copy of the clip with a match frame and change the speed of that clip then just use replace.

I think most folks just go for one of the many re-timing or speed modifyign plug-ins, seems like most everybody sells one of varying quality. I have probably six different speed changing plugs among my various resources in the system, from stand-alone helpers to the FCP timeline to plugs inside Motion, etc.

thank you guys all for your input and especially Jenn. I like the way he do it. Much faster and no need to open other sequence or move clip up and down.
