    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your advice. I think we’ve decided to go for the 8 core model, everyone I’ve spoken to seems to have the same opinion that its our best option, even if Apple bring out a new model in the near future.

As for storage, we use various drives due to the amount of footage we’re working with on different projects but I’ll try and utilise the GTech Raid drive for current projects.

    Cheers,

    Jen

    Hi Baz,

Just wondering if you can help me with something. We just received the J3SDI I mentioned a few weeks ago but I seem to be having a problem capturing through our Black Magic Deck Link SP card. I have remote access to control the J3SDI but it doesn’t seem to register the signal. I’ve gone into the decklink options in the system preferences on our G5 but it doesn’t give me an option for SDI input, only Analogue (NTSC/PAL-Y) or Component (Analogue-Y, B-Y, R-Y).

The signal plays fine when outputted to a television via the monitor output, so do you know if I need to change any settings on the J3SDI or on the G5 to allow the computer to read the signal?

You mentioned that you use a similar set up so I just wondered if you might have an idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Jen

  • Thanks for that. I went for MPEG1 (with separate dolby audio) in the end. It was v quick, seems to work fine and also results in a pretty small file.

    Cheers.
