  • The folder with the flashing question mark means the machine can’t find a boot drive. Sounds like you may have a hard drive failure. I hope you have your critical files backed up. I’d try booting off your OS X install disk and try running Disk Utility and repairing the drive or some other tool like Disk Warrior on it. You may or may not be able to salvage it. If you are able to get the drive back up be sure to copy all your important stuff off of it. Good Luck!!!

You may want to consider buying a deck. In my experience camera used as decks sometime have inexplicable problems reading tapes properly from other other manufacturers cameras. Although this problem doesn’t semm to happen as often as it used to it seems to be plaguing you. I have yet to run into that problem using my Sony DSR-11 deck and I’ve used tapes from all kinds of sources. Also by using a deck for aquisition and mastering you save a lot of wear and tear on your camera thereby extending its lfe (or need for service.) Good luck.

  • I have to say that it was a big dissappointment that FCP 5 didn’t include the ability for a mixed timeline. I figured that feature was a no brainer like multicam. I think mixed timeline will take the place of multicam in the requested feature department. We can only hope that Apple adds this feature in future updates of FCP. Let’s hope it is before FCP 6!

I guess we’ll find out tomorrow at NAB. The Apple booth should be busy! Let’s hope there isn’t another Avid/Apple audio war of attention this year, trying to drown each others presentations.

Just saw it. People can no longer complain about no multicam and not having multichannel audio support. I must say though I was expecting more new features. Very few surprises.
