i have a nearly identical problem. have a lacie 160GB porsche firewire drive that decided tonight that it doesn’t want to mount.

tried the usual stuff — rebooting, unplugging, etc. ran disc utility and it says the disc need to be repaired. the repair doesn’t work. the disc spins up, the light is on. just won’t mount.

i do not want to erase this disc if possible, and putting it in an internal bay isn’t an option.

help!

in “make movie”: frame rate 29.97, i export as a QT movie

any other info that would be helpful? the resulting image looks great, but the image will “twitch” to the right every few seconds. it happens randomly, every few seconds.

i’ve had it for probably two years. i probably put 3-4 hours a week use on it. the audio started dropping out. just got the estimate from the service center — $480.00 to replace everything that needs replacing (basically the entire playback mechanism). don’t know what to do!

i found it in:

LIBRARY / PREFERENCES / MEDIA 100 PREFERENCES

there are files there called “current configuration” and “media 100 codec preferences” as well as a few others.

which one is it?

thanks for the ideas. i’ve used jewelboxing in the past, but because of the custom work involved, i only offer it as an “upgrade” to my clients.

what i’m looking for is anything — ANYTHING — more interesting that the “leather” folios i get from art-leather, etc. any kind of unsual packaging. i’ve found the “tins” and would love more options like this. something in a book form, etc.

surely there are more options than this?

yes, i have. it renders the A and transition tracks, but not the B track. strange, huh?
