Regarding #1, renaming of clips, for any kind of footage coming from a media card such as AVCHD, DSLR, or XDCAM, do NOT rename them!

Best practice is to copy the entire contents of memory card straight to hard drive, then use Media Browser in Premiere for the import. There is metadata in various folders that is critical to Premiere being able to properly interpret and handle your footage. Renaming files breaks that system.

Proper import methods will typically provide the result you are looking for.

Copy the ENTIRE contents of the memory card directly to your hard drive (no utility/conversion software). Important to have all folder and files, not just the “video clips”.

In Premiere, don’t use “File > Import” – rather, use the Media Browser. This should bring in the group of clips from one long recording as a single, continuous clip for editing.

Just use the H.264 > YouTube preset for export and that should work well.

As for playback issues, QT player is known to have a gamma-shift issue, Google it.

Hi Daniel,

I’ve been using CS6 since it came out, works great for me on PC. There has been a couple of updates, latest being 6.0.5 to fix old issues. With CC, and now 2014 versions being out, I feel safe to say than ANY further Adobe development of CS6 is over with at this point.

Maybe shoot the test tube in front of green screen then key that OVER the video of the face. Reflections an issue? Optimally, the would be a 3D rendering/compositing job outside of Premiere. The test tube would be created as a 3D model.

Sounds like you are out of your depth, perhaps hire a freelancer for the effect.

Brian – are you setting audio to Do Not Transcode? The default for Blu-ray should be Dolby AC-3, try using that if you’re not. In any case, audio should be 48k 16-bit stereo.

Please define “terrible audio”.

What happens when you play the .wav file by itself on the computer, how does it sound before burning to disc? Trying to figure out at which point the audio goes bad.

Any access to another Blu-ray player for testing to make sure it’s not just something with the PS3? Blu-ray players are now about $60 – if you want to make Blu-rays regularly, would be worth the investment for testing if nothing else. Or maybe you have a Best Buy nearby that you can take your disc to their showroom and try? I used to do that years ago when players were still hundreds of bucks.
