  • So i’ve tried this again using only ethernet connections, it still does not work. I can get the visual on my TV now, but if I try to play it I get the following errors:

    “CoreAudioManager::GetNumOutputBusses()
    iRep->iCurrentOutputDevice is set to NULL.”

    Seems to be an audio issue?
    I’m out of ideas.

    I’m wondering if anyone out there has tried this with any success with a more recent version of media composer (i’m using 5.5), or a different computer, (I’m using a MacBook Pro from 2011).

    Thoughts?

  • Yes we are trying slightly different things. I was planning on putting AVID into full screen mode and mirroring it for preview purposes with client.
    I don’t believe what you are trying to do is possible with APPLE TV although it would be great. However, I’ve heard rumour that the next version of Mac OS will allow you to use APPLE TV as a second monitor. I don’t think this will mimic a client monitor (it will work more like connecting through thunderbolt), but it’s one step closer.

  • I’m using it to mirror what is on my macbook pro. Just one monitor.
    I haven’t tried connecting through ethernet yet, perhaps that will solve the problem. I will update you when I get a long enough cable.

  • Thanks Michael, I’ve been able to capture my footage at 2:3:2:3 (standard), and 2:3:3:2(advanced). How do I know which one is better if I don’t know which way it was shot?

    I read on other forums that you can tell if your footage is 24PA if every fourth frame repeats. When I dig my footage in at 29.97, every fourth frame does reapeat. However, our shooters are telling us the tapes were shot at 24P(not advanced) and when i bring it in at standard mode it does look better. The footage that i bring in at advanced mode looks like it have a duplicate frame every once in a while?

    Our final show will be go out at 30i and 25PAL, and we’re trying to figure out the optimal workflow?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    That’s great, thanks for the info.
    I’ve installed the trial version of BCC3 in my avid supporting files but it’s not showing up in my effect pallet?
    I’m using OS 10.4.3, could this be the problem?
    I’ve also installed BCC4 in the past could this be a problem also?

    Thanks for any info,
