I can’t say. I’ve come across that particular problem before. Have you tried the usual trashing the preferences, or deleting and reinstalling FCPX?
I know that’s the FCPX equivalent of the IT guy saying “have you tried turning the computer of and on again” but it’s amazing how often that solves weird problems.

If you create a new library and throw a couple of clips in there, do you get the share option? Which is to say, is it the library of your FCPX install that’s messed up…
If it’s just the library, what happens when you copy the project from one library to another?

No idea really, I vaguely remember someone having that problem years ago when they installed FCPX and FCP7 on the same machine but I don’t know how or if they solved it.
Logically though, if it works for another user then it’s more likely an OS X issue than an FCPX or Motion issue.
Have you tried booting into safe mode and repairing file permissions with Disk Utility?
Slightly more drastic but In your shoes, if that didn’t work, my next step would be to delete FCPX and Motion reboot, then re-install.

Have you tried resetting the FCPX preferences? Hold down cmd+alt while launching FCPX.

In terms of grading. the GH4 is a very noisy camera. Set it up wrong or underexpose by more than a stop or two and you’ve got a real headache.
Looking at that particular image I’d probably just use a power window to track the talent’s face, lift that a little and leave the rest of the image alone so as not to push up the noise.

Make a compound clip from them and play that? Other than that, I don’t think you can.

In my experience you can’t judge exposure from the LCD screen on ANY camera – let alone a GH4. Or if you can it’s more by luck than design.
The GH4 has a really nice OLED monitor but it’s nowhere near calibrated to something you can use to judge exposure. Then I’ve got to ask how well is your computer screen calibrated? How far out do the waveforms in your NLE say you are?
Use the histogram, zebras, or exposure meter to get it right on set – that’s what they’re there for. Even better, get a good calibrated external monitor with waveforms and false colour, it really takes all the guesswork out of it.

When you say you’re making the files, what are you doing?
Why not just highlight the footage in FCPX and get it to create optimised media? No Linking required.
Which is good because FCPX and robust relinking usually don’t go in the same sentence.

In the browser? No. Or only in as much as you can adjust the clip height using the view options. Unlike the timeline, there’s no audio only view.
