Open up your either the task manager or resource manager in windows – see if the CPU is pegged or not during playback. The resource manager will give you better insight beyond CPU.

The frame rate is the ‘least’ of the things that will give the illusion of ‘film look.’
The first is done in shooting: controlling light for short depth of field (one of the reasons the DSLR movement for shooting is so popular.)
The second would be ‘curves’ in color correction for an ‘S Curve” giving higher contrast and more shadow/blown out highlights (bonus to blur the highlights)
The last is frame rate; the best way (aside from shooting 24 in camera) would be via Twixtor in AE; You could try a 24p timeline.

If it was an iOS item, then it’s part of the developer kit (and recorded on a mac)
If it was a ‘finger’ – it was likely PinPoint.

The problem is that you’re trying to get 6+ hours on a single layer DVD; this just isn’t really going to look good.
My best suggestion is to switch to a DVD-9; you can reasonably get 4.5-6 hours on that…and if it’s a wide shot of a play, you probably could get closer to 8.

OSX isn’t windows – it won’t let the finder do a ‘cut’ and a paste – merely a copy.
Drag and drop will ‘move’ it.There are third party utilities that give a finder replacement that feel more ‘windows’ like in this respect.
Side note: it’s an INTEL mac….a G5 is the 5 generation Motorola Power PC processor. I’m assuming you have a MacPro (big steel tower.)

Add your map as a still.
Put the Displacement map effect on the Still.
Then add caustics to your project.
Drag the caustics to the displacement map effect.

Is there a reason you’re not using compressor via the “Send To” feature in FCP?
The problem here is that we don’t know what you’ve done as far as export – and the best workflow (not fastest, easiest/best) is via the Send to Compressor feature to build M2V mpeg video and AC3 audio.
Last, make sure you didn’t have any audio peaks (FCP, markers menu, mark audio peaks.) This would certainly cause problems with DVD Authoring.

Final cut has a render manager – use this to examine and clean up your renders.

You can also add a destination….
then open the preferences and make it the default – making it easy to add 40 items without pain (or use a droplet)
