There’s a compressor preset to convert your audio to 48/16. Use that, and then everything should be fine.

No, as Tom said, really, it’s normal. It’s outside of the scan area – you can barely see if your production monitor has an Overscan switch. Most NTSC I’ve come across has at least a field or two like that (based on the camera.) and if someone used DV material and put it on a Beta tape, that’s exactly what you’d see (due to the differences between a 480 and a 486 raster area).

How about
Selecting all the sequences in the browser. Open them all up. Set your autorender to 1 minute and walk away.
(render finishes)
Select all the sequences
Choose batch export
Choose ref movie.

My friend – my guess is that AMA QuickTime’s are handled as 601 – that they’re not doing any real analyzation beyond the codec. I owe you an email anyway.

This isn’t pretty, but it’ll work.

Use the blade tool (or CMD-V) in your timeline to cut up the future subclips. Then drag them to the browser. Yes, I know, not ‘avid-intuitive’ but it’ll work.

For real time playback all audio has to be 48k 16bit stereo (or mono)

Google Scott Squires. He’s the master of this sort of work (and used to have an application called Commotion.)

Basically you want to build even simpler shapes – one for the head, one for each ear, one for the torso…basically overlapping shapes. Each shape should have the least amount of control points as possible. Try working every 5th frame or so.

Oh yeah, rotoscoping in general sucks.

Select the shape in the animatte.

Also, if you’re doing this to get Real time playback – animatte is RT in MC 5
