Hi all,
I have seen this a few time in FCP and I’m not too sure what it is. But before you or in my case myself toss whats left of my brain and time off a bridge i have a suggestion. Adobe Premier will allow you to view/edit and trans-code .mxf file natively. If you don’t have AP you can down load it for 30 day trial for free. There are lots of .mxf translators on the market and some run in the hundreds, but I found this as a good work around. I recommend that you Google “Premier .mxf to XXX” and that will help you find a video or two on the path
If anyone knows why FCP spins it’s wheel and then give you a red! with an error message please let me know. The above is a work a round and it works well.
