ok- that’s helpful- but the question then is- what’s the advantage of having the kona card to begin with if you’re not using the HD-SDI? is there a cheaper way to get component HD video out of the Mac to a monitor than a capture card and breakout box? i’ll be capturing all my footage via a firewire camera/deck and i just need a way to monitor my edit on an HD CRT.

Also, any thoughts on the Kona LH vs the Blackmagic Decklink HD cards for the mac? Does Blackmagic even offer a breakout option to get analog component HD video from that card?

doesn’t running it analog component defeat the purpose of having dual link HD-SDI capabilities? won’t the signal to the monitor look way better if you go SDI over analog component?
