I would also check out MetaSAN. Like XSAN, it is a file-based SAN environment but it is WAY easier to administer and does not require OS X Server nor XServes nor a dedicated metadata server, nor a separate dedicated ethernet network. That’s a mouth full. Support from Tiger Technologies is also great.

What is also neat is that it will work with both HFS+ and NTFS. So if you have any hard drive issues, you can use the tools that have been available for years to help you out.

If you are just doing compressed video, you can utilize their solution over Ethernet to help cut costs.

Hi Gary,

The sequence was 59.94 non-drop. We were also using a Black and Coded tape.

Though, if it is a drop to non-drop issue, won’t you see 2 frame increments instead of one? The thing that really makes this a mystery is when we take the deck out of the equation and export a QT Reference or Self-Contained Movie.

Just to set the record straight, HDCAM color space is actually 3:1:1. Moreover, it has herendous color artifacts if you are trying to do chroma-keying due to the compression.

Couple other notes regarding the Panasonic “Pro” Plasma. It supports native 23.976 and true 24 FPS. The consumer models have these frame/refresh rates disabled.

Also note the additional frame delay (up to 7) when going through both Plasmas and LCDs.

On a related note, Samsung announced they are about to release a LED lit DLP. This should lead to very natural color with a super wide gamut. Unfortunately, since it is Samsung, one can assume that the color will never be accurate out of the factory. With a few tweaks, though, it may be good. Should be out in a few weeks.
