It already has ! 7.2.1 update of Premiere Pro CC has some OpenCL optimization for the Dual GPU of the new Mac Pro. And of course, as with CUDA and NVIDIA cards, OpenCL will be faster with high-end GPUs than CPU multiple cores, so would not consider anything else then the D700 option with 6, 8 or 12 cores, but GPU’s top priority.
As for 4K display, Dell 32″ is as good as the Sharp and quite a bunch cheaper as well.

DaVinci Resolve version 8.2.2 is out, and should enable the normal use of the Tangent Wave and MC Color.

Same for Tangent Wave, Release 8.2.1 breaks the deamon panel, the Wave turns into demo mode. Need to uninstall and revert back to 8.2.1beta3 which works OK. Didn’t have a chance to test with tangent Element to check if 8.2.1 release broke as well ? Hope the fix is coming soon !

June 27, 2012 at 5:56 am in reply to: PCI-e external boxes with Thunderbolt I/O announcedIndeed, Sonnet has been shipping for two weeks from now. Magma has started shipping pre-production units. We received and tried out both units. They’re a go for the RED Rocket and DIT stuff using a MacBook Pro.. But some restrictions apply with the current RED driver which does not support hot plug and play.

June 26, 2012 at 8:02 am in reply to: PCI-e external boxes with Thunderbolt I/O announcedWell, just a bit of correction here, both Sonnet Echo Express PCIe (1 slot) and Echo Express Pro PCIe (2 slots) are shipping since last week and Magma ExpressBox3-T is shipping as well. SO, that makes several choices possible at different price points right now.

September 12, 2011 at 1:32 pm in reply to: IBC is on and no news about a FCPX update?Well, it’s not because we can no longer sell it that we must not stay aware of the evolutions of the product itself.
Because, some existing customers will want to evolve someday in the future when they feel the product is ready to move from FCP 7 to FCP X (if they have not switched to another competitor product).
Of course, if Avid and Adobe deliver Pro updates targeted to FCP 7 customers, of course the game will be over and there will be no need to wait on Apple to reintegrate missing mandatory functionalities into FCP X…
Oddly, they try to persuade us that the product is still targeted on Pros and will evolve to fulfill pro needs, but speaking for myself, I don’t think they share the same vision than many of our customers.

September 11, 2011 at 6:37 pm in reply to: IBC is on and no news about a FCPX update?Yes indeed, we cannot sell it anymore, but we at least need to know where this is going… Just to mention that I’ve seen more Macs with Premiere Pro on the show floor than ever and at key partners booths, not a surprise if You want to demo the New thunderbolt devices that offer input/output, but again some hope is In the air, but dont expect everything missing from FCP 7 back In this first serious update…. Cannot say more because of the NDA.. Cheers!

January 28, 2011 at 12:48 pm in reply to: Hardware/driver issues Decklink 3/3dBehavior is ok when turning OFF video output.
But we tried also with a KONA LHi and same issue…
-
Anyone having found a solution yet ?
This issue is unbelievable. We did reconfigure from scratch a virgin Mac Pro of one of our customers concerned by this issue by reinstalling on a different Drive Mac OS X 10.6.5, FCS 7.03 and DeckLink drivers 7.9.4, and tried with local storage, and same issue still there, memory errors and loss of the video output. No other cards within the Mac Pro except the built-in Radeon 5770 and DeckLink 3D.
This is going to madness.
Even another customer working with a basic Intensity pro has issues with video output being half green/pink. I hope someone finds a solution.
